Motorists traveling KY 283 in Webster County need to be aware a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet contractor plans closures beginning Monday for full-width paving.
Spokesman Keith Todd says the work zone along KY 283 will be near the Beckley Osborne Road and extend northward to Smith West Road, a distance of nearly 4 miles.
To speed up the paving operation and provide a smoother driving surface, Todd indicates KY 283 will be closed at the work site during daylight hours to allow the roadway to be paved full-width. Local access for property owners will be maintained on each side of the closure point.
According to Todd, paving along this section is expected to take about two to three days to complete, weather permitting.
Once paving operations are completed the roadway will be reopened. Traffic will then be restricted to one lane with alternating flow controlled by flaggers to allow gravel to be placed along the shoulder area. Todd indicates the shoulder work is expected to take about two to four days to complete, weather permitting.
Charbon Contracting, LLC, of Madisonville is the prime contractor on this highway improvement project at a cost of over 445-thousand dollars.
