CITY FINANCE DEPARTMENT EARNS DISTINCTION FOR FY 2016 BUDGET

NEWS RELEASE

HENDERSON, KY – The City of Henderson’s Finance Department and Director Robert Gunter have received an award for the City’s budget presentation from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).

It was the eighth time that the Finance Department has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. The award was for the Fiscal Year 2016 budget.

“All finance department staff members and the department heads and their staff members who participate in preparing and presenting the budget are to be commended for bringing this recognition to the city and for their contributions to earning this distinction,” said Henderson City Manager Russell Sights.

The award represents a significant achievement, according to a news release from the GFOA. “It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting,” the news release said. “In order to receive the budget award, the City of Henderson had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.”

The guidelines are designed to assess how well the City’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, Illinois, and Washington, D.C.
