UPDATE: Two Shawneetown Residents Injured in Union Co. ATV Wreck

Authorities say alcohol and excessive speed may have played a role in an ATV accident in Union County that injured two Shawneetown, IL residents.

Union County Sheriff’s Deputy Jamie Waller reports emergency personnel responded to the ATV accident on HWY 360 about 1.5 miles from HWY 56 West around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

He tells WMSK News the driver of the ATV, Sean Tadlock, and his passenger, Brianna Bean, were traveling on HWY 360 toward HWY 56 West when Tadlock for some unknown reason lost control of ATV and left the right shoulder of the road. The ATV then reportedly traveled down a ditch, hit a culvert, which caused the ATV to become airborne and roll into a cornfield.

Tadlock and Bean were transported by Union County EMS to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

Deputy Waller says the roadway was reopened around 1:40 a.m.
