2 Morganfield residents charged for trafficking drugs

A search warrant executed by multiple law enforcement agencies Tuesday night netted the arrest of two Morganfield residents for trafficking drugs.

Morganfield Police Officer Zac Render reports to WMSK News his department, the Sturgis Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office, Henderson County K-9 Unit and Kentucky State Police Post 16 conducted a joint operation to execute the search warrant at the residence of 36 year old Carlos Bell and 37 year old Marcia McElroy on West Carlisle Street in Morganfield around 10:00 Tuesday night. Officer Render indicates a search of the entire property eventually led to the seizure of multiple bags of marijuana, numerous items of drug paraphernalia and packaging material, a 2013 sports car and thousands of dollars in cash.

Bell and McElroy were charged with one felony count of trafficking marijuana, 8 ounces to 5 pounds, and two misdemeanor counts of wanton endangerment 2nd degree due to the presence of juveniles inside the home.

Officer Render says the multi-agency cooperation is just one example of how law enforcement is working due diligently to benefit the communities in this area of Kentucky.
