18 year old Madisonville man charged with attempted murder

A Hopkins County teen has been charged with attempted murder after police say he fired a gun at a man with small children standing nearby on Thanksgiving Day.

Madisonville Police report officers responded to a shots fired complaint around 12:45 Thursday afternoon near the corner of North Kentucky and East Noel Avenues. During the investigation, officers spoke with witnesses on the scene who reportedly stated that 18 year old DeShaun Parker of Madisonville and Ronald Bowman of Madisonville had gotten into a verbal altercation. During the altercation, witnesses reportedly told officers that Palmer pulled out a handgun and fired a single shot at Bowman, missing him, and two females and two small children ages one and five that were standing next to Bowman at the time of the shooting.

According to police, Palmer was located several hours later inside the Madisonville Walmart where he was taken into custody and charged with Attempted Murder and four counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree. Palmer was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.
