13th annual Masters Athletic Challenge scheduled for June

The 2016 Masters Athletic Challenge will be held June 3 – 9 in Daviess County and will feature golf, billiards, tennis, and bowling.

Formerly known as the Green River Regional Senior Games, this annual event promotes physical fitness and healthy competition among area residents age 50 and above.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Friday, June 3 – Golf

(8:00 a.m. at Panther Creek Golf Course)

  • Tuesday, June 7 – Billiards

(10:00 a.m. at Munday Activity Center)

  • Wednesday, June 8 – Tennis

(8:00 a.m. at Moreland Park)

  • Thursday, June 9 – Bowling

(10:00 a.m. at Diamond Lanes South)

The cost to participate is $5 per event; however, additional fees are required for bowling ($13) and golf ($20).

This year’s games are being sponsored by Diamond Lanes of Owensboro, Owensboro Health, and Owensboro Parks & Recreation.

“Masters Athletic Challenge is designed for individuals of all skill levels,” said coordinator Leslie Wilson, with GRADD. “Participants can even qualify to compete in the Kentucky State Senior Games in Frankfort in September.”
