UPDATED: Paducah man killed in 4-vehicle wreck on US 60 East was a native of Union County

WMSK News has learned the 28 year old man killed Wednesday night in a head-on collision on US 60 East was a native of Union County.

Kentucky State Police identified the victim in the head-on collision Wednesday at the Henderson-Union County line as 28 year old Seth Cross of Paducah. Mutliple sources tell WMSK News Cross was a Union County native..

According to KSP, Cross was driving a Cadillac eastbound on US 60 East around 7:30 Wednesday night and as he approached the Highland Creek Bridge he entered the westbound lane and sideswiped a pickup truck driven by 30 year old Josh McHatton of Henderson. Police indicate Cross sideswiped a second pickup truck driven by 32 year old Frances French of Morganfield and then crashed head-on into a car driven by 62 year old Debra Schermerhorn of Morganfield.

According to state police, Cross was pronounced dead at the scene. Schermerhorn was transported by ambulance to Henderson Methodist Hospital. A passenger in Schermerhorn’s vehicle, 56 year old Marilyn Nalley of Morganfield, was transported by ambulance to a Union County hospital and later transported to Deaconess Hospital for further treatment.

Authorities report the road was closed for four hours while crews cleaned up debris from the crash.

KSP is continuing to investigate the fatal wreck.

State Police were assisted at the scene by the Union County and Henderson County Sheriff’s Departments, Waverly Volunteer Fire Department, Morganfield Fire and Rescue, Union County Coroner’s Office and Kentucky State a Highway Department.
