Authorities are looking for a man who police believe assaulted and stabbed an Owensboro woman Tuesday.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies and emergency personnel responded to a welfare check around 6:00 Tuesday night of a female lying down in the roadway covered in blood at the intersection of Graham Lane and Graham Lane East. Upon arrival, deputies say 44 year old Delores Shepherd of Graham Lane East advised them she had been assault and stabbed. Authorities indicate she had several lacerations to her hands and her face that appeared to be caused by a bladed weapon.
Shepherd was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and is listed in stable condition.
At this time, deputies reportedly have a suspect in the assault and are currently searching for 55 year old Joel Wilson for questioning. At this time, authorities do not know Wilson’s whereabouts.
