Morganfield Corn Festival 2016 Theme “Envisioning the Future from New Heights”

The Corn Festival in downtown Morganfield is over a month away and the Morganfield Lions Club has released this year’s theme and the grand marshals.

Officials say the theme for this year is “Envisioning the Future from New Heights”. The grand marshals will be Dr. Bill Tapp, a dentist, and Terry Rodgers, a local businessman. According to officials, both men have been long-time active members in the Morganfield Lions Club, as well as play a significant part of the Corn Festival for several years.

In addition, the Lions Club has announced the 2016 Golden Kernel recipients. The award will be presented to Dr. Mark Troutman and his wife, Judy. Officials say Dr. Troutman recently retired as a Morganfield optometrist, where his wife also worked. He has been a long supporter of the local Lions Club by offering glasses for needy families at greatly discounted rates.

WMSK News will have more information coming up next month prior to the Morganfield Corn Festival to be held September 15-17, 2016.
