Former Uniontown Police Chief, School Board Members, Bravettes Recognized by UCPS Superintendent

Former Uniontown Police Chief Thomas “Buster” Byrd, who retired at the end of 2015, was recognized at the Union County Board of Education meeting Monday night.

Superintendent Patricia Sheffer recognized Byrd as the community supporter for being the eyes of Uniontown Elementary School for the last five years.

Superintendent Sheffer then presented him with a certificate of appreciation.

And since January is Board of Education Appreciation month, Superintendent Sheffer also recognized board members and thanked each one for their years of service.

And lastly, Superintendent Sheffer said she wanted everyone to know how proud she is of Coach Smith and the Union County High School Girls Basketball Team for his leadership and the team’s outstanding sportsmanship.

As Coach Smith and the Bravettes were leaving the room, Superintendent Sheffer got up from her seat and walked across the room to shake hands and thank each individual team member.
