The Kentucky State Police, Post 1 Mayfield, reports they were received a call around 5:00 a.m. Wednesday of an overturned semi on the Ramp from I-69 South onto I-24 East in Lyon County.

According to KSP, a preliminary
investigation showed that 45 year old Noemis Gonzalez, of Louisville, KY was driving a Freightliner tractor trailer south on Interstate 69 in Lyon County. Police say Gonzalez was attempting to ramp onto Interstate 24 east when for an unknown reason his truck hit the guardrail and overturned, trapping him for about one hour.

Authorities indicate firefighters from Eddyville, Kuttawa, and Princeton Fire Departments used heavy equipment to extricate him from the wreckage. Lyon County EMS transported Gonzalez to Lourdes Hospital where he was treated and later transferred to Vanderbilt University Hospital with life threatening injuries.

The collision remains under investigation.

Kentucky State Police were assisted on scene by the KSP Commercial Vehicle Division, Lyon County EMS and Rescue, and the Eddyville, Kuttawa, and Princeton Fire Departments.
