Kentucky State Police is investigating a fatal collision in Christian County that killed an Oak Grove man this weekend.
Kentucky State Police troopers responded to a fatal collision on I-24 at the 86-mile maker at about 1:07 p.m. Sunday.
A preliminary investigation revelated that Alan R. Gonzalez, 28, of Oak Grove, was driving a 2019 Suzuki sports bike eastbound on I-24. Deangelo D. Miller, 43, of El Dorado Union, AR, was operating a 2024 Kenworth Semi traveling eastbound.
After Gonzalez merged onto I-24 from U.S. 41-A, he lost control of the sports bike and struck a guardrail. The unoccupied sports bike then traveled across both eastbound lanes and was struck by the semi, according to police.
The Christian County Coroner pronounced Gonzalez dead at the scene. Miller was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing by Accident Reconstructionist Detective Jacob Stephens. KSP was assisted on scene by the Oak Grove Fire Department, Christian County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky Department of Transportation, KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Jones’ Brothers Towing, Christian County Rescue, and the Christian County Coroner’s Office.
