Kentucky State Police Investigating Fatal Collision on Kentucky Highway 70 West in Muhlenberg County

CENTRAL CITY, Ky. – Kentucky State Police are investigating a two-vehicle fatal collision that killed a Bremen man on a Central City highway.

At approximately 2:51 p.m. Tuesday, KSP Post 2 was contacted by the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a two-vehicle fatal collision on Kentucky Highway 70 west near Central City.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Quinton E. Basham, 61, of Bremen, was operating a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt traveling eastbound on Kentucky 70. Tammy W. Harris, 67, of Central City, Ky was operating a 2020 Buick Encore westbound on Kentucky 70.

For unknown reasons, the Buick Encore entered the eastbound lane and struck the Chevrolet Cobalt head-on.

The Muhlenberg County Coroner pronounced Basham dead at the scene.

Harris was flown from the scene to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

The investigation is ongoing by Accident Reconstructionist Trooper Nathan Pedigo. KSP was assisted on scene by the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office, Muhlenberg County EMS, Central City Fire Department, Greenville Fire Department, Kentucky Transportation Department, Muhlenberg County Coroner’s Office, Emergency Management, PHI Air Ambulance, Quality Towing, and Stanley’s Towing.
