JAMESTOWN, Ky. (AP) — A Russell County man is facing a murder charge following the death of a 70-year-old man who was found beaten inside his home.
Kentucky State trooper Billy Gregory said in a news release that 53-year-old Rick D. McWhorter, of Jamestown, got into a fight Saturday morning with Douglas W. Carnes.
Gregory says Carnes was “beaten and cut to death.”
McWhorter was arrested and charged with murder later that day. It is unclear whether he has an attorney.
Authorities have not said what the men were fighting about or whether they knew each other.
Police are awaiting the results from an autopsy that took place Sunday.
