OPD: Four juveniles charged with vehicle thefts, residential burglary

Four male juveniles have been charged in connection to three vehicle thefts, a residential burglary and other crimes in Owensboro.

According to Owensboro Police, officers responded to a firearm discharge call in the 3800 block South Griffith Avenue around 5:30 a.m. Thursday that led officers to four juveniles, ranging in age from 14 to 17, who had been throwing fireworks from vehicle that had been reported stolen.

Around the same time, police say they received a separate call related to a vehicle blocking the road in the 700 block of Turtle Creek Drive that was also determined to be stolen, as well as a third vehicle found near the juveniles. Police indicate two handguns were also recovered, and one of the handguns had been reported stolen.

At the time of the release from police, the four male juveniles were charged in connection to the three vehicle thefts, one home burglary that occurred in the 46-hundred block of Harbor Hills Trace on Thursday, and other unrelated charges.
