Ohio Co. man charged with attempted kidnapping

An Ohio County man was charged with attempted kidnapping and other offenses after police say he went to a residence in Daviess County armed with a pistol and tried to force his ex-girlfriend to leave with him.

30 year old Heath Napier of Hartford was arrested Saturday afternoon around 1:15 by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and charged with first degree burglary, attempted kidnapping, first degree terroristic threatening, first degree fleeing/evading police, reckless driving and no/expired registration.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office tells WMSK News deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 7200 block of Boston-Laffoon Road after Napier showed up at the residence and unlawfully entered the home armed with a pistol and attempted to force his ex-girlfriend to leave the residence with him. Police say Napier told everyone in the home that if they called the police he would kill them all, and he then fled the scene before deputies arrived.

Authorities located Napier shortly thereafter driving on Highway 54 in Ohio County. Ohio County Sheriff’s deputies tried to stop Napier, but he took off and led deputies on a short vehicle chase before giving up without incident.

Napier was taken into custody and lodged in the Ohio County Jail.
