Morganfield woman charged for trafficking marijuana

A traffic stop landed a Morganfield woman behind bars for trafficking drugs.

According to Morganfield Police Department Assistant Chief Chris Toman, Officer Eric McCallister conducted the traffic stop around 10:00 p.m. Tuesday on Village Square Road near the museum. He says the driver, 41 year old Wendy Dawn Garnett, was pulled over for speeding and disregarding a stop sign. During a records check, Officer McCallister learned Garnett was driving on a DUI suspended license and she was taken into custody.

Assistant Chief Toman says Garnett admitted to Officer McCallister during her arrest that she had marijuana in the vehicle, which was found packaged in multiple bags.

Garnett was booked into the Union County Detention Center for trafficking in marijuana (less than 8 ounces), possession of marijuana, failure to produce an insurance card and the previously mentioned charges.
