Four Fire Departments Responded to Report of Smoke from Huff Technologies

Four local fire departments this morning responded to a call of smoke coming from Huff Technologies in Morganfield.

Morganfield Fire Department Chief Rick Millikan tells WMSK News they received the call around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday and city firefighters and the Whispering Meadows Fire Department responded to the building at 325 Industrial Road in the Morganfield Industrial Park.  He says when units arrived on the scene they reported heavy smoke billowing from the corner of a large industrial building and requested additional assistance from the Union County Volunteer Fire Department and Waverly Fire Department.

According to Chief Millikan, Morganfield Fire Department crews entered the structure and found a machine had malfunctioned and was leaking Ethylene Glycol onto a hot motor causing a very large vapor cloud. He indicates the building was ventilated to remove the vapor cloud once the power was shut off to the machine.

Chief Millikan reports no hazardous materials were involved or released.

Union County EMS, Union County Emergency Management and the Morganfield Police Department also responded to the call.
