1 dead, 2 injured in apartment fire

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Police say an early morning fire at an apartment building has left one person dead and injured two others.

Frankfort Police Department Maj. Rob Warfel said the blaze at Country Hills Apartments was reported to the fire department at about 2 a.m. Friday. He said firefighters notified city police after finding a fatality.

Warfel said the dead person and those injured were all in the same second-story apartment. The injured were taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

Warfel said the blaze caused minor damage to three other apartments.

He said state police and the state fire marshal’s office are assisting in the investigation to determine the cause and origin of the blaze.
