Whitfield Stands with House in Challenging President Obama’s Executive Action on Immigration

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01) on Thursday voted in favor of H. Res. 639, which authorizes the Speaker to file an amicus brief on behalf of the House of Representatives in the matter of United States vs. Texas.  Whitfield released the following statement upon passage:

“In 2014, President Obama bypassed the legislative branch and unilaterally granted amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants through executive order.  This resolution is an important step in reasserting congressional authority in the legislative process and I am pleased to stand with my colleagues and more than half the states across the nation who have challenged President Obama’s executive action on immigration.”
