Sturgis City Council Approves Appointment of Public Works Superintendent

It was a short and sweet special called meeting that lasted about 5 minutes and ended with the appointment of a new Public Works superintendent for the City of Sturgis.

Council members unanimously approved Mayor Mike Hardesty’s appointment of Chase Robertson as the superintendent.

Robertson has been serving as the interim superintendent after former Public Works Superintendent, Jeff Wilson, resigned on May 5, 2016. City Clerk Cindy Carr said Robertson officially took over the position on July 1, 2016.

In other business, council members unanimously approved the minutes of the regular council meeting on Monday, June 6, 2016 and the minutes for two special called meetings last month on Friday, June 17, 2016 and Monday, June 20, 2016.

Councilmen Pete Brown and Doug Rodgers were absent from Monday night’s special called meeting.

The next regularly scheduled Sturgis City Council meeting will be held Monday, August 1, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sturgis Council Chambers.
