PPD: Webster County woman charged for assault, robbery, theft

A Providence woman has been arrested in connection to an assault, robbery and theft that occurred in mid-January.

Providence Police Chief Brent McDowell reported Monday that 25 year old Whitney Sims was arrested and charged for first degree assault, first degree robbery, twelve counts of theft by unlawful taking – firearm and two counts of theft by unlawful taking – controlled substance.

According to police, the arrest warrant was obtained in connection to two subjects filing a report on January 18, 2016 that Sims and 32 year old Dustin Eddings had removed several firearms from a safe at a residence and loaded them into a vehicle on January 18, 2016, along with numerous other items from the residence. As reported previously by WMSK News, police reported the two subjects also stated they had been assaulted by Eddings and hit numerous times. After an alert was sent out to law enforcement agencies, Eddings and Sims were arrested later in the day by Madisonville Police in the Rural King parking lot.

Following his arrest, Eddings was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center for first degree domestic assault, fourth degree domestic assault, two counts of third degree terroristic threatening and two counts of unlawful imprisonment.

Sims was taken into custody on arrest warrant last Thursday, January 28, 2016.
