Officials find fisherman’s body in Barren River

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Officials say they have recovered the body of a fisherman from Barren River in south-central Kentucky.

Warren County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Stephen Harmon told media outlets that 35-year-old Vehab Cuturic of Bowling Green was trying to cross a sandbar to get to the other side of the river with two friends on Sunday when he lost his footing and fell into the water.

Harmon said the friends tried to rescue Cuturic, but couldn’t reach him and called 911.

Rescue teams searched the water for nearly six hours before finding Cuturic’s body. The coroner’s office pronounced him dead at 5:50 p.m.
