...HEAT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT SUNDAY...

* THE COMBINATION OF HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 90S WILL COMBINE
WITH OPPRESSIVE HUMIDITY TO PRODUCE HEAT INDICES FROM 105 TO 110
DEGREES. THOUGH MARGINAL VALUES FROM 100 TO 105 MAYBE OCCUR
TODAY...VERY OPPRESSIVE HEAT IS EXPECTED TO MOVE IN FOR THE
FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY TIME FRAME....WHEN SOME LOCATIONS MAY
APPROACH HEAT INDICES CLOSER TO 110 DEGREES.

* A HEAT INDEX OF 105 DEGREES OR HIGHER IS CONSIDERED THE LEVEL
AT WHICH THE BODY BECOMES MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO HEAT EXHAUSTION
  AND HEAT STROKE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY
OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS. MAKE
SURE OUTDOOR PETS HAVE PLENTY OF FRESH WATER.

YOUNG CHILDREN AND PETS SHOULD NEVER BE LEFT UNATTENDED IN
VEHICLES UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE DURING
WARM OR HOT WEATHER WHEN CAR INTERIORS CAN REACH LETHAL
TEMPERATURES IN A MATTER OF MINUTES.

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS...IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR
EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT
STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN
POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.
