Services Set for Morganfield Man Killed in Motorcycle Wreck

A Morganfield man killed Thursday in a motorcycle wreck on US 60 West will be laid to rest Saturday.

WMSK News has been informed by multiple sources the victim is 60 year old David Roney, husband of Morganfield City Clerk Kim Tucker Roney. WMSK News withheld releasing the name until the obituary was released and was assured family members had been notified.

Visitation will be held 11AM-1PM Saturday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield. A graveside service will follow at 2:30PM at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Greenville.

According to Union County Sheriff’s Deputy Jamie Waller, deputies and emergency personnel responded to the wreck around 3:45 p.m. Thursday on US 60 West near Union County High School.

The report says the investigation conducted by Deputies Jason Thomas and Waller revealed Roney, for unknown reasons, lost control of the bike, exited the roadway and crashed into a concrete culvert. They say the motorcycle came to rest in a deep ditch on the outside of the eastbound lane.

Deputy Waller says the Morganfield man was pronounced deceased at the
Union County Methodist Hospital Emergency Room.

Deputies were assisted on scene by Union County EMS as well as Morganfield and Sturgis Fire 1 Rescue crews.

According to the sheriff’s office, they are continuing to investigate the fatal motorcycle accident.
