KYTC UPDATE: KY 283 Closure in WEBSTER County DELAYED Until Thursday

NEWS RELEASE UPDATE

Due to rain in the forecast for early in the week, a contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to delay the closure of a secton of KY 283 in WEBSTER County. The closure of KY 283 that was scheduled to start Monday is now expected to start on Thursday, May 12, 2016.

This closure along KY 283 near the 3 mile marker is to allow a bridge to be replaced. The closure along KY 283 in the Knoblick Creek area between Cottingham-Pratt Road South and Shady Grove-Knoblick Road is epxected to be in place from May 12th until about May 28th.

Pushing he start date to Thursday helps to assure the contractor can meet the 15 day time constraint on the closure.

This advance notice is to allow farmers and truckers who may use this section of KY 283 to prepare for the closure in advance.

Following this 15-day closure, the contractor will be back in the area at a later date for milling and paving along KY 283 from Beckley Osborne Road at mile point 1.397 extending northward to Smith West Road at mile point 5.029, a distance of 3.63 miles. During this phase of the work motorists should be alert for one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers.

Charbon Contracting, LLC, of Madisonville is the prime contractor on this $445,319 highway improvement project.
