KSP: Vehicle Pursuit on I-24 Leads to Arrest of Nashville Man

NEWS RELEASE

Caldwell County – The Kentucky State Police has charged a Nashville man with traffic-related offenses after a vehicle pursuit through several counties.

On Sunday, April 17, at approximately 10:41 p.m., Trooper First Class Billy Over observed a vehicle traveling westbound at a high rate of speed on Interstate 24, at approximately the 56 mile-marker, in Caldwell County.  TFC. Over activated his emergency equipment in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

The vehicle failed to stop and fled at a high rate of speed.  The pursuit continued on I-24 through Lyon, Livingston, Marshall, and McCracken Counties.  The pursuit ended when the operator stopped the vehicle at the 16 mile-marker in McCracken County.  The operator was taken into custody without further incident.

The operator, Devontae M. Parrish, 22, Nashville, TN, was lodged in the Caldwell County Detention Center on the following charges:

  • Speeding 26 MPH or > Over the Speed Limit
  • Fleeing/Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
  • Improper Passing
  • Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree – Police Officer
  • Operating on a Suspended Driver’s License

Several area law enforcement agencies assisted with the pursuit.
