KSP: Oak Grove man charged with murder in connection to male’s body found on Carter Road

Hopkinsville, KY. – A man wanted in connection to a homicide turned himself in around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hopkinsville Police Department and is currently in custody of KSP Detectives.  Deqavion Marcell James was arrested after he turned himself in at the Hopkinsville Police Department shortly after 3:00 p.m.  He is currently in custody of KSP Detectives and will be lodged in the Christian County Jail.

According to Kentucky State Police, 18 year old Deqavion Marcell James, of Oak Grove, KY was wanted by the KSP for Murder, Robbery 1st Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence in connection to the murder of De’Andre Marquis Palmer, whose body was found by an Oak Grove Police officer on Carter Road on July 20, 2016. An autopsy was conducted at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Madisonville to positively identify the the male’s body.

After James turned himself in, he was lodged in the Christian County Jail.

Oak Grove, Ky. (July 20, 2016) Kentucky State Police are investigating an unidentified body that has been located on Carter Road on July 20, 2016 at approximately 6:15 p.m.

Preliminary investigation revealed that an Oak Grove Police Officer located the deceased body of an unknown subject in a wooded area of Carter Road close to Ghost Bridge. The body was found several feet from the roadway after the officer was investigating a strong odor that he noticed while on patrol.

At present time, the cause of death is unknown. An autopsy will be performed at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville. KSP Detectives are currently on scene and more information will be released as it becomes available.

KSP was assisted on scene by the Oak Grove Police Department, Christian County Sheriff Department, Clarksville Police Department and the Christian County Rescue Squad.
