HCSO: Henderson man arrested on felony warrants

A Henderson man wanted on felony warrants in Kentucky and Indiana was arrested Thursday night.

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Department reports deputies and the Henderson Police Department responded to the southbound US 41 North Bridge around 10:35 p.m. Thursday in reference to a report of a male subject, later identified as 22 year old Jawaun Eastwood, sitting on a railing of the bridge. When deputies arrived, they located Eastwood walking on the approach to the southbound bridge and when deputies tried to stop him, they say he ran into a patch of woods on the west side of the approach to the bridge.

According to authorities, when Eastwood was located he gave deputies a false name, but deputies were able to properly identify him. He was taken into custody for felony warrants in Kentucky and Indiana. The sheriff’s office says Eastwood tried to escape custody but he was apprehended immediately.

Eastwood was booked into the Henderson County Detention Center for second degree fleeing/evading police on foot, giving a police officer false name or address, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, third degree criminal mischief, public intoxication, Kentucky Probation Violation Warrant, two Kentucky misdemeanor warrants for failure to appear, an Indiana felony warrant for failure to appear, and an Indiana misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear.
