HCSO: Evansville man charged after short pursuit with deputy

An Evansville man is facing several charges after authorities say he fled from deputies and led them on a short pursuit in Henderson County.

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office reports a deputy tried to stop a car with one headlight on US 41 North around 10:15 Wednesday night, but the driver refused to stop and led the deputy on a short pursuit that ended on Jamestown Drive when the driver pulled the vehicle into a driveway.

Authorities say the driver, identified as 44 year old Michael Bellew of Evansville, was booked into the Henderson County Detention Center for six active Bench Warrants for Failure to Appear, Fleeing/Evading Police 1st Degree Motor Vehicle, Operating on a Suspended/Revoked Operators License and other traffic-related offenses.

A female passenger in Bellew’s vehicle, identified as Melinda Duncan of Henderson and wanted for several active warrants, fled the area on foot and has not been located.
