On Monday February 29, 2016, at 12:19 p.m. Gibson County Central Dispatch received a 911 report of a battery in progress in the parking lot of the Deaconess Health Clinic located at 685 South Vail Street in Princeton, Indiana.
Princeton Police Officers were sent to the scene and spoke with the caller as well as witnesses at the scene.

During their investigation, the sheriff’s department reports witnesses alleged that former Princeton Police Chief, 68 year old Ralph “Butch” Davis of Princeton, was involved in the incident. At that point, current Princeton Police Chief Derek McGraw asked the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the matter.

According to the release, a deputy took statements from all parties involved in the incident as well as Davis’ statement. At the conclusion of the deputy’s investigation, Davis was arrested and transported to the Gibson County Jail where he was charged with Battery.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
