Brief Traffic Stoppages along I-69/Pennyrile Pkwy at MADISONVILLE on MONDAY, FEB 8

KYTC NEWS RELEASE

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans rolling road blocks along I-69/The Pennyrile Parkway in the Madisonville area on Monday, February 8, 2016.

The rolling road blocks at about 9 a.m., CST, are to create a break in traffic to allow the contractor to remove old overhead sign truss structures along I-69/The Pennyrile Parkway near the KY 281 Madisonville/Providence Exit. This is Pennyrile Parkway Exit 44 and I-69 Exit 116.

Kentucky State Police will assist the sign truss removal by slowing traffic several miles from the work area to create a gap in traffic. The gap in traffic will allow time for a crane to remove the old structures. Traffic may be temporarily stopped at this location for up to 10 minutes to facilitate the work.

Motorists should be alert for slowing and stopped traffic. Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and maintenance personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

As a reminder, some of the new I-69 panel signs are up along the 42 mile section at exits between Nortonville and Henderson. These panel signs carry the new exit number. However, signs at the exit ramp ends and mile markers continue to use the old Pennyrile Parkway exit and mile points. Police and other emergency agencies are continue to use the old mile points until new mile markers are installed at a later date.
