81-year-old time capsule discovered in American Legion post

OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) — Crews demolishing an old American Legion post in Owensboro have discovered an 81-year-old time capsule.

Scott Jagoe is with Jagoe Homes, the company that bought the property last year. He tells the Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer (http://bit.ly/224aTU7) there were rumors of a time capsule in the building. It was found inside the hollow 1935 cornerstone, placed there by World War I veterans.

Jagoe says the capsule was delivered to the new American Legion post on Thursday.

He says he was told the post would have a ceremony to open the capsule later.

The post’s Facebook page says, “More details will be coming in the next weeks about presentation and celebration! Stay tuned!”
