Union County High School Athletics would like to announce that three vacant positions within the athletic department at UCHS have been filled.
Marcus Hoehn has been hired as the new head wrestling coach. After three years as an assistant, Hoehn will now take the reins of one of Kentucky’s best wrestling programs. Coach Hoehn graduated from Farmington High School in Farmington, MO where he was an honor student. Hoehn was a three year varsity letterman in baseball and a four year varsity letterman in both football and wrestling. In wrestling, he was a four time state placer, while also helping the Knights to two Missouri class 3A state team titles. Hoehn also finished his high school career with a 6th place finish at the National High School Coaches Association Senior Nationals, earning his first ever All-American honors.
Hoehn wrestled collegiately at the University of Missouri where he was a four-year varsity letterman and two-year starter. In his final season at Mizzou, Hoehn accumulated a 33-13 record and ended his career with a Big 12 Conference Title at 141 lbs. His senior year he qualified for the NCAA tournament where he was the No. 5 seed in the tournament. Coach Hoehn was a four time member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll while completing his BA in General Studies. Upon graduation from Mizzou, Hoehn went on to complete his Masters of Arts in Special Education at Campbellsville University.
Coach Hoehn is entering his fourth year teaching at Union County High School and has been an assistant coach for the Braves for the past three years. Since Hoehn has joined the UCHS Wrestling Coaching staff, the Braves have crowned 10 individual state champions along with 11 other state placers, as well as the 2011 team state championship. In 2012, the Union County Wrestling team won their first State Duals Championship in school history.
Hoehn lives in Morganfield with his wife, Katie.

David Curtis has been hired as the new head volleyball coach. Curtis finished last season as the interim head coach and has now moved into the full-time position. Coach Curtis graduated from Union County High School in 1967. He graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1971 with his BA in Physical Education and a minor in Math, in 1975 with a MA in physical education, and in 1977 with his Rank 1 in education.
Curtis worked in the Union County School System from 1971 to 1985. He taught math at Uniontown and UCHS, PE at Morganfield Elementary, was assistant principal/AD at UCHS, and went on to become principal at Morganfield Elementary. In 1985 he left the school system to go into the insurance business where he remained until 2010.
Over the years, Curtis has coached football, baseball, basketball, soccer, cross country and volleyball at UCHS. He is currently teaching math at UCHS.
Curtis lives in Morganfield with his wife, Deann. Their son, Jeremy, is branch manager at Fifth Third Bank in Morganfield and is the golf coach at UCHS. Jeremy’s wife, Harvi Ann is the gifted and talented instructor at Sturgis and Morganfield Elementaries and cheerleader coach at UCHS. Their daughter, Jodie, works at FOX News Channel in Washington, D.C.

Nathan Tanner has been hired as an assistant athletic director. Tanner has served in many different athletic roles in his teaching career, most recently as an assistant basketball coach at UCHS. Tanner is a 1998 graduate of Webster County High School where he was a two sport athlete participating in basketball and baseball. He was the valedictorian of his 1998 senior class.
After high school Tanner attended Oakland City University where he was a member of the Mighty Oaks baseball team from 1999-2002. Tanner was a first team All-Regional pitcher in 2000, and the 2002 OCU Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Tanner began his teaching career at Henry County High School where he also served as the head baseball coach from 2003-2005. In August of 2005 Tanner accepted the head baseball coaching position at his alma mater Webster County. Tanner taught Technology and served as the head baseball coach of the Trojans from 2006-2010. In 2010, Tanner joined the Union County High School faculty.
Tanner resides in Slaughters with his wife Carrie and their son, Ryan.
