Whitfield Votes to Send Obamacare Repeal Bill to the President’s Desk

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Ed Whitfield (KY-01) voted on Wednesday in favor of the Restoring American’s Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act, which repeals several key provisions of Obamacare, defunds the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, and reduces the deficit by more than half a trillion dollars. Whitfield released the following statement upon passage.

“Obamacare has been nothing short of a disaster since its enactment in 2010. Americans have seen insurance policies canceled, premiums skyrocket, patients lose access to their doctors, and businesses cut hours and lay off employees because of Obamacare. Yet year after year, Senate Democrats have obstructed Republican efforts to repeal this awful law in an attempt to shield President Obama. This dynamic has changed with Republican majorities in both the House and Senate this Congress.

“The president now has a simple choice to make—he can listen to the American people, sign the bill, and rescind his failed health care law and defund Planned Parenthood or he can veto it, and once again prove that he alone knows what’s best for the American people.”
