Western Kentucky investigating racial incidents on campus

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Officials at Western Kentucky University are investigating after someone slipped a statement under an assistant dean’s office door, attacking her race.

WKU Provost David Lee told the Bowling Green Daily News (http://bit.ly/2cWGBz6 ) Monday that Assistant Dean Michelle Jones of the University College recently found the statement in her South Campus office.

He says the note attacked Jones for being African-American and said she should go back to Africa.

Lee says they are determined to find out who wrote the note.

Last month, a black student at WKU found her parked car keyed with a racial epithet and other scratches.

WKU President Gary Ransdell said in a statement Sunday that police are investigating both incidents. He says the actions of the few do not represent the entire university.
