VCSO: School Bus Struck while Unloading Students

On Thursday, November 03, 2016 at approximately 3:00pm the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a crash involving a school bus on Old State Road south of Knollview Drive.

According to authorities, a red Pontiac Grand Prix had been traveling south on Old State Road when the driver exited a curve and noticed a school bus stopped in the opposing lane of travel. They report the driver veered into the front of the school bus to avoid striking children who were crossing the roadway.

The sheriff’s office says the school bus was occupied by approximately 35 students at the time of the collision. No one reported any injuries at the scene. They indicate tge passenger car sustained significant front end damage and had to be towed.

The crash remains under investigation.
