NEWS RELEASE

During the late evening hours of Thursday, April 21, 2016 the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in Stone Creek subdivision off Seib Road to investigate a report of child molestation. A 13-year-old girl had confided in a family member that her father had molested her. The family member notified Child Protective Services, who responded to the residence with the Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was interviewed today by a forensic interviewer at Holly’s House, with assistance from Child Protective Services and the Sheriff’s Office. The victim reported that on two occasions her father, Mr. Gary Kenneth Kuechenberg, came into her bedroom, turned off the lights and locked the door. The victim reported that on both occasions her father partially removed her underwear and shirt before touching her exposed buttocks and breasts. The victim reported that both instances occurred in January of 2016, when the victim was still 12 years of age.

Early this afternoon Mr. Kuechenberg was taken into custody at his place of employment. During an interview at the Sheriff’s Office Command Post, Mr. Kuechenberg admitted to having committed the offenses as described by the victim. Mr. Kuechenberg explained that he felt terrible about his actions and expressed remorse.

Mr. Kuechenberg was then transported to the Vanderburgh County Jail and booked on charges of Child Molestation as a Level 4 Felony.
