VCSO: Evansville Man Charged with Rape and Criminal Confinement

An Evansville has been charged with the alleged rape and confinement of his live in girlfriend.

According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, 42 year old Michael Vernon Loveless was arrested on charges including rape and criminal confinement.

Police say Loveless lived with the victim, who had recently tried to end the relationship.

Loveless arrived at the couple’s north side residence this morning while in an intoxicated state and allegedly threatened the victim, as well as pointed an unloaded handgun at his own head and pulled the trigger, according to the report. Authorities say the victim then grabbed the handgun and threw it from a window while Loveless was busy trying to load the handgun magazine with ammunition.

The victim reported being raped by Loveless during the course of the incident.

According to the Authorities, Loveless was eventually persuaded by the victim to let her leave the residence so that she could take her children to school, and she then drove to the Sheriff’s Office command post and reported the incident.

The Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested Loveless when he walked out of the residence on his way to his vehicle.

Loveless is charged with Rape as a Level 1 Felony, Criminal Confinement as a Level 3 Felony, Intimidation as a Level 5 Felony, Pointing a Loaded Firearm as a Level 6 Felony, Battery as a Class A Misdemeanor
