A house in the Henshaw community was destroyed by fire earlier today.

Union County Emergency Management Director Vernon Martin tells WMSK News firefighters from the Sturgis, Henshaw, Sullivan, Whispering Meadows and Union County Volunteer Fire Departments and the Union County Ambulance Service responded to the scene of the structure fire at 2398 State Route 2834. He indicates no one was home at the time of the fire. A reliable source tells WMSK News the home is owned by Paul and Karen Henshaw.

According to Martin, the one-story wood-frame home with siding is a total loss.

Martin says the cause of the fire is unknown and is being investigated to determine the origin of the blaze.

No other details have been released.
