The Union County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the husband and wife involved in a domestic related shooting last week.
Deputy Kyle Dame tells WMSK News they responded to the domestic dispute around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2016 on KY 56 West about five miles west of Morganfield where 38 year old Stacy R. Nichols was shot by her husband, 40 year old Carl A. Nichols. Both parties reportedly claim the shooting was accidental. Deputy Dame says the sheriff’s office is thankful the three year old child inside the residence was not injured during the altercation.
According to Deputy Dame, the incident is still under investigation, but charges are expected. He says drugs are believed to be a factor in the incident due to a methamphetamine pipe being found at the scene of the shooting.
