UCF Leadership Participants Visit Local Elementary Schools

The Union County First L.U.C.K.Y. Leadership participants were out and about again Thursday, October 27th visiting elementary schools.

According to Union County First Administrative Assistant Lindsay Jenkins the Leadership participants visited each of the elementary schools in the county, teaching some of the 3rd and 4th grade classes the “parts of a pumpkin”, which was part of the education portion of the program.

The group also met with Adult Education coordinators, Melissa Thomas and Cathy Walls, who gave the participants a glimpse into what it was like to take the GED test. They also spoke about all the free services they offer through Adult Ed.

Lastly, Jenkins says the participants had the privilege to meet with Union County Public Schools Superintendent Patricia Sheffer who spoke about some of her many duties, as well as some of her accomplishments as superintendent.
The 2016 Leadership Class will present their group project, “Union County Kids Count” mentoring program at the Union County First Board meeting on Tuesday, November 1st.
