Two Hopkins Co. Fire Departments Awarded Federal Grants

Two volunteer fire departments in Hopkins County were awarded Operations and Safety grants from the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

1st District Congressman Ed Whitfield announced today the Richland Volunteer Fire Department in Madisonville will receive $100,533, while the Grapevine Community Volunteer Fire Department in Madisonville will receive $4,959.

In addition, federal grants were awarded to the Northwest Volunteer Fire Department in Christian County and the West Marshall Fire Department in Marshall County.

The federal grants that totaled nearly 200-thousand dollars combined will provide funds that can be used for professional training, wellness and fitness programs equipment, personal protective equipment, modifications to facilities, and supplies that support firefighting and non-affiliated EMS operations and safety.
