Traffic Stop Nets Arrest of Henderson Man for Trafficking Marijuana

A Henderson man was arrested in Henderson County over the weekend for trafficking marijuana and other offenses.

Henderson County Sheriff’s Deputy Stefon Douglas tells WMSK News a routine traffic stop on 41-A and the 425 By-Pass around 12:55 a.m. Saturday led to the arrest of Ashton Ricketts. During the stop, Deputy Douglas says he smelled marijuana coming from the passenger compartment of the vehicle and Ricketts was removed from the car and given a Field Sobriety Test which showed he was impaired.

According to Deputy Douglas a Henderson K-9 officer responded to the scene and the K-9 alerted on the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, they reportedly found multiple glass jars in a back pack with suspected marijuana, along with black digital scales and other items indicative of trafficking.

Ricketts was taken into custody and booked into the Henderson County Detention Center for DUI, trafficking marijuana less than 8 ounces, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving and failure to produce insurance card.

Deputy Douglas indicates Kentucky State Police also assisted him and the K-9 officer during the traffic stop.
