Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest for Multiple Drug Charges, Including Trafficking

Police say a traffic stop on Park Avenue in Madisonville around 5:35 p.m. Thursday netted the arrest of the driver, 36 year old man Johnathon R. Carter of Manitou, on multiple charges including drug trafficking and several drug possession offenses.

During a search of Carter’s vehicle, Kentucky State Police say they found approximately 28 grams of methamphetamine, Fentanyl patches, marijuana, prescription medication, and items used to distribute and ingest controlled substances.

Carter was issued a citation for traffic violations and lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center for first degree trafficking in a controlled substance (Greater than 2 grams Meth), first degree possession of a controlled substance, first degree possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, second degree possession of a controlled substance, third degree possession of a controlled substance and prescription controlled substance not in original container.

KSP says Madisonville Police Department assisted with the investigation.
