Traffic Signal Work on KY 54 at US 60 Interchange in OWENSBORO on TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY

Local residents traveling in Owensboro need to be aware a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet contractor plans electrical work on a traffic signal along KY 54 at the US 60 Interchange today (Tuesday) and Wednesday.

Spokesman Keith Todd says the contractor will be working on the signal at the end of the eastbound exit ramp from US 60 to KY 54/East Parrish Avenue, which also controls traffic for Heartland Crossing Boulevard at the entrance to Menard’s.

Today (Tuesday), the electrical crew will be working in the turn lane, median area, and immediately along the ramps. White this phase of the work is not expected to severely disrupt traffic, Todd notes motorists should use appropriate caution where bucket trucks and electricians will be working close to traffic flow.

Then, on Wednesday, the contractor plans to deactivate the signal at the eastbound ramps to and from US 60 to KY 54 starting around 9:00 and continuing until approximately 3:00 to allow the contractor to replace a damaged signal support pole at the intersection.

While the signal is out of service on Wednesday, Todd says flaggers will control all traffic flow through this busy intersection, so motorists will need to use extra caution.

Officials report about 16-thousand vehicles travel the KY 54/East Parrish Avenue through this intersection in an average day.
