A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans a traffic shift along the KY 56 work zone west of Morganfield in UNION County on Monday, September 26, 2016.
This work zone runs along KY 56/Morganfield-Shawneetown Road between KY 360 at mile point 7.812 extending eastward to KY 3393/The Morganfield Bypass at mile point 11.5, a distance of about 3.6 miles.
On Monday, the contractor will be shifting traffic with one lane moved onto the shoulder of the newly constructed roadway to facilitate the next phase of construction along the project.
On Monday morning, motorists should be prepared to encounter flaggers assisting movement of traffic control along the work zone. Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow. Some delays are possible during the traffic shift.
Once the traffic shift is completed, motorists should be prepared to encounter changes in traffic flow along the work zone.
Hicon Construction, LLC, is the prime contractor on this $11.5 million highway improvement project. This project is approximately 65% complete.
Approximately 1800 vehicles travel this section of KY 56 in an average day.
