Traffic ADVISORY – traffic shift along the US 41 work zone in SEBREE on Wednesday, August 16, 2017.

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans a traffic shift along the US 41 work zone in SEBREE on Wednesday, August 16, 2017.

Travel lanes along a section of US 41/College Street have been narrowed and shifted in Sebree to allow reconstruction of pavement, curb, and gutters between the KY 56/Main Street intersection at milepoint 9.461 extending northward to East Madison Street at milepoint 9.745. This section of US 41 includes intersections with East Webster Street, East Washington Street, and KY 56/East Jefferson Street.

This work zone includes a traffic shift and 10 ft. travel lanes along US 41 to facilitate work along the northbound lane. Starting around 9 a.m., CDT, on Wednesday, the contractor will be shifting traffic to facilitate the start of work along the southbound lane. Motorists should be aware of this planned traffic shift and changes in traffic flow it will create through this work zone.

Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow. Motorists should use extra caution as traffic control is shifted to the new configuration on Wednesday morning.

Approximately 7,700 vehicles travel this section of US 41 in an average day.

Hazex Construction Company, Inc, of Henderson is the prime contractor on this $900,714 highway improvement project. The target completion date is October 15, 2017.

While many area work zones will be taken down in anticipation of heavy traffic associated with the Monday, August 21st Total Solar Eclipse, this work zone along US 41 in Sebree will remain up. The lane configuration at this site should accommodate the same traffic volume as highway sections to the north and south of this work zone.
