Traffic Advisory – Roadway Striping Begins Today in District Two

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is addressing traffic paint striping activities across the 11 counties of KYTC District 2.

These mobile paint caravans will be on the road during daylight hours anytime weather allows.

While the reflective paint is a special fast-drying formula, motorists are reminded to avoid driving through fresh paint.  Paint caravans will be running under normal highway speeds.  The paint trucks and support vehicles will be making several passes on each highway segment to place reflective paint along edges and down the center line.  To complete their work in a timely manner the paint caravans will have to run for extended distances before pulling over to let traffic pass.

Motorists are asked to use appropriate caution and exercise patience as these crews go about their efforts to make our highways safer for the rest of us.

Motorists should be aware that these mobile caravans will be working along all types of highways.  Generally, pavement markings get repainted about every 2 to 3 years depending on traffic count and other factors.

Reynolds Sealing and Striping is the prime contractor on this roadway traffic paint striping project for KYTC District 2.

KYTC District 2 is responsible for 3,300 miles of highway in Kentucky’s 11 counties.
