Secretary Grimes Announces Online Services Available to Voters for General Election

Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes encourages Kentucky voters to prepare for the Nov. 3 General Election by taking advantage of online services to verify their polling places, view sample ballots and research candidates.

“Our online resources make it easier than ever before to make informed decisions and make your voice heard in our elections,” said Grimes, Kentucky’s chief election official. “From sample ballots to driving directions, these tools help make sure voters can meaningfully participate in the democratic process.”

The State Board of Elections website, www.elect.ky.gov, has a wealth of information that can facilitate the voting process, including the Voter Information Center (VIC). VIC allows voters to review their registration information, find polling place locations and obtain driving directions to get to the polls. VIC is accessible from many mobile devices.

Through cooperation with county clerks across Kentucky and election service providers Harp Enterprises and Kentuckiana Election Services, sample ballots are also available online through the Secretary of State and State Board of Elections websites.

In addition, pursuant to a 2013 law championed by Grimes, qualified military and overseas voters may request and receive absentee ballots through a new online portal. The portal can be accessed via the State Board of Elections website.

Information about individual candidates who filed with the Secretary of State’s office is available at www.sos.ky.gov. The information in the database is provided by the candidates and may include photographs, email addresses and links to campaign websites.
